The Helen Mary is a Maxus 9.8m vessel constructed in 2013 for owner and skipper Phillip Cavanagh. Based in Greencastle, Co. Donegal, the vessel continues to operate on Lough Foyle, where it targets both oysters and whitefish.
Configured to meet the specific demands of the fishery, the vessel is fitted with two compact split trawl winches, offering a balanced and efficient setup for handling gear. All deck machinery can be operated remotely from within the wheelhouse, improving both safety and ease of use during daily operations.
Powered by a Tier 2 compliant MAN mechanical engine, paired with a Twin Disc gearbox, Helen Mary provides dependable and straightforward performance. An electrically driven Vetus bow thruster is also fitted, enhancing manoeuvrability when working in tighter spaces or alongside.
Built with practicality and durability in mind, Helen Mary is a reliable and capable working vessel, well suited to the demands of mixed inshore fisheries on Lough Foyle.
